Days 1, 2 and 3

Well, we've taken the plunge: our kitchen renovation has begun!  Here is a before photo of our kitchen on the morning of Day 1:

and then late that afternoon: goodbye soffits, old cabinets, non-stone countertops and (one hour later) TWO layers of linoleum!

Here's a before picture of the long wall in our living room...which formerly had a standard-sized door (to the kitchen) and a 4-foot opening (to the dining room):

By the end of Day 2, those had both been widened significantly and we were starting to have some pretty solid sight lines:

And by the time Day 3 ended, a larger hole was in place for our new, bigger window (to be installed next week), the old door to the deck was gone (we don't need it!), and the electrical work (including new can lights in the ceiling) were in place:

We're pretty excited about how much has been done already.  And, as of yesterday, all of the new appliances, hardware and extras are officially ordered.  Until they're delivered and installed, here's where I'll be cooking delicious, nutritious meals!

This is really happening!!
