We are definitely on a roll with our kitchen renovation...we have A LOT to show for the past 6 days.
On Day 8, our favorite chimney and brick guy* came out and removed the brick that was blocking our larger window footprint (on the right). He'll be back to brick around the new window and to rebrick where we used to have a door at a later date.
On Day 9, our favorite floor guy* came and laid new hardwood flooring in the kitchen. We love that he did such a good job of weaving in the new floor with our existing floor.
Ready for sanding and staining next week!
On Day 10, our new BIGGER window was installed!
On Day 11, we finally got a glimpse of the perimeter cabinetry we had chosen: Shaker style in ivory! This is our new French door pantry and small bar area.
For obvious reasons, Day 12 was extremely exciting for us! The rest of the cabs went in, as did our espresso-finish island and the oil-rubbed bronze hardware we chose. Talk about seeing it all come together!
And, finally, on Day 13, the granite and quartz guys came out to template our countertops. We've chosen a black granite for the perimeter and a white marble-esque quartz for our island. Hopefully, the two areas will contrast and complement each other nicely. Here's the official template for island...the dotted line represents the amount of overhang we'll have to accommodate a bunch of bar stools. Yay, for future casual dining!
So that's the end of Week Three. Phew! Next week will be the refinishing and staining of the new floors, and the week following that, our new appliances, countertops, sink, faucet, etc. will all be installed. Final touches like crown molding happen that week, too. The end is in sight...stay tuned!
*I guess we have a handful of "favorite workpeople" now that we've lived in Cincinnati for over a year. It's nice to know whom to call when you need the job done right!
P.S. A big thanks to everyone who sent "Get well!" wishes to post-tonsillectomy Brie. She's been a big trooper this week...not complained once about her throat, ate well and slept great. Believe it or not, her snoring is mostly gone already and her nose isn't very runny anymore either! And we're thrilled that she's in good spirits!
