We're thrilled to announce the arrival of the newest member of our family: Sebastian James!! He joined our family at
10:01 a.m. on Thursday, June 19, weighing 8 pounds, 2 ounces and measuring 20" long. Even though he arrived a week early, he's the first of our babies to tip the scales at over 8 pounds!
So far, his name seems to suit him beautifully and we hope he grows to love it as much as we do. Sebastian is a name we've loved for a long time, and James is in honor (and a combination) of my Grandma Janis and Great-Grandpa Julius.
Thus far, he is a relaxed, laid-back little guy who loves to snuggle. Sebastian already adores his Daddy, and is super proud of Mommy for her third natural childbirth experience.
Sebastian definitely had interesting timing! My official due date was June 27 and I had, therefore, planned accordingly (since both Sammy and Brie arrived a few days early): my mom was supposed to arrive on Friday the 20th and Beth was going to fly in on Saturday the 21st. But...my 37- and 38-week appointments indicated that he might make an earlier arrival, so I mentioned to my mom that she
might like to come to Cincinnati earlier. So...she packed up and made the drive on Wednesday the 18th: Mom arrived at 4 p.m. on Wednesday afternoon, we took the kids to swim class...
ate dinner, watched a little TV, went to bed...and then I went into labor about
6 hours later!! Talk about perfect timing!
And what does the best auntie on Earth do when her nephew's arrival beats her booked flight to Cincinnati by two full days?? She changes her travel plans and hops on the very first flight out of Baltimore, so she can meet 6-hour-old Sebastian, of course!
Like with Sammy and Brie, our time at the hospital flew by, but was very special...full of first hugs, kisses, cuddles and lots of getting to know our new family member. It was a sunny outside in Montgomery and sunny inside, too. (:
What a wonderful time it was to admire Sebastian's beautiful head of dark hair...
and his precious double chin. Talk about love at first sight!!
Stay tuned for all of the excitement and love that awaited Sebastian when he got home over the weekend. Can't beat a greeting from two big siblings, right??
P.S. Tony and I love the meanings of and stories behind names. When we looked up Saint Sebastian, we were delighted to discover that he was the patron saint of sports! Perfect for a boy who was born in the middle of the World Cup soccer tournament! Speaking of which, here's the sign that
just-so-happened to be on Sebastian's hospital bassinette!

Congratulations, Steph and Tony! Sebastion is so cute (LOVE the hair), and you picked a wonderful name! I can't believe how great all the logistics worked out - that was my biggest fear with Lucy, that she would come before my mom could get to Maryland! Your timing was perfect :-).
