Had to vent...

It's May 2, 2011 and they caught (and took out) Bin Laden this morning...after nearly 10 years of hunting him down. It took first-class reconaissance, top-notch techonology, and some fearless soldiers (including Navy Seals from Virginia beach!!) to get the job done. I'm very proud. It really sounds like something out of the TV show "24."

And then I remember that it's only May 2, 2011, and in order to have Brie's birth certificate amended (this has been a long drawn out process since last year when Durham Regional Hospital listed our little Gabriella as "Gabrielle"), I had to go to the post office today to get a certified money order. I just don't get it. I handed the man $16.10 ($15 for the money order and $1.10 for processing) and he printed out the money order for me. Then I write in to whom I will give this $15 (in this case the North Carolina State Records department) and then hand it over to the kind folks at the Durham Courthouse. WHY is this better than me giving them $15 in cash? WHY is this better than writing them a $15 check? I guess they don't want to handle cash...or checks that bounce...but I didn't hesitate to tell the woman at the Courthouse that this is SO 1960! Can't wait to go home and make dinner for Don, Sally and Bobby while wearing my heels and lace apron.

Did I mention (oh, wait, I did!) that this was the hospital's mistake we're paying for, not ours? But I digress...

P.S. AND they got our address wrong, too! ((sigh))

Ha! Love the timing...I just spent half the morning on the phone trying to correct a business's error (long story short, they insist I owe them $3 and I insist I am actually paying early and so am ahead by $142) and was bashing my head, asking the same sort of questions. So annoying!

I did enjoy the sweet smell of vindication when I got the copies of the checks from the bank, though. Hope you get your corrected certificate soon!

We had such a horrible experience with Durham Regional during and after Chase's birth that I'm determined to make sure never to deliver another baby there again. But, anyway, I can't believe that you are having to pay for THEIR mistake. UGH! Has to be so frustrating...I so feel your pain.
