It was fun watching with Brie...she agreed that the wedding was very romantic!
Sammy got into the "royal" spirit, too, and donned his birthday crown. "All rise for Prince Samuel, the Duke of Durham!"
And since the Royal Wedding has been at the forefront of everyone's mind, Tony and I found ourselves reminiscing about the many wonderful weddings that we've attended over the years. We feel so lucky to have been present for many of our friends' and family members' special days. So...in honor of yesterday's wedding, we put together our own Top 5 lists (well, Top 4.5) of some of our favorite/funniest/most wonderful memories from those nuptials. Enjoy!
Tony's list:
1. Sweet moment - at our friends' Takeo and Kazumi's wedding in Tokyo, friends of the groom put together a video/slideshow of the bride and groom's courtship--to the theme of "Beauty and the Beast." It was funny initially, but in the end, it underlined what a wonderful match they are.

2. Funny moment - seconds before my close friend-the groom-Mike was about to enter the synagogue sanctuary for his wedding, I (the Catholic groomsman) said, "Hey, Mike! Wanna put on a yarmulke?!"
3. Another funny moment - riding to our friends' Allison and Mark's wedding in Salem, Massachusetts, we scored the ultimate South Boston cabbie, complete with cut-off t-shirt and jean shorts. We were talking with him about registering for your wedding and he said, "That's the best. You get all yuh may-kuhs. Bread may-kuhs. Cawfee may-kuhs. Y'know, all yuh may-kuhs." Such a nice guy.
4. Special moment - I was a groomsman in my buddy Jake's wedding two years ago. At the end of the evening, everyone got brownies to take home with them. Jake's wife Amanda lost her mother several years back and the brownies were the same recipes that she used to bake with her girls. What a special touch to a perfect occasion.
5. Yummy moment - Steph and I ate the most delicious filet mignon at our friends' wedding in Tokyo (same wedding as #1). Japanese weddings are never lacking in delicious food or drinks!
Steph's list:
1. Sweet moment - Our friend Rourke had the sincerest, most heartfelt groom's toast, in which he said to his wife Amy (I'm paraphrasing by memory), "I never imagined that I would marry someone as smart and beautiful as Amy." SOOOO sweet.
2. Funny moment - Knowing her new husband all to well, Tony's former coworker Ashley threw on a windbreaker over her beautiful gown when they fed each other bites of wedding cake. She wasn't taking any chances that he would smash it in her face and on her gown!
3. Another funny moment - Tony and I actually had to cut and serve the cake for 200 people at my 4th year college roommate's wedding! She said she had read it was an honor to ask a guest to do this. Good thing I had experience at UVa catering!
4. Special moment - In 2001, I was invited to a Japanese wedding (the cousin of my friend (a Japanese-American JET also teaching in Shimizu))--a stone's throw from Mt. Fuji! Ayaka and Kinji graciously invited me and a few other Americans to their wedding, so we wanted to do our utmost to thank them. We read a speech in Japanese (!!) and then led the bride and groom and FOB and MOB in their first (ever!) dance. You see, ordinarily there is no dancing at a Japanese wedding, so this was really special. Really special. (That also was the most happy I've been at a wedding. For what seemed like hours, we alternated beer and sake over a multi-course meal that was mostly (amazing) fish. Then we went to an after-party at a bar where I had one (two? more?) Salty Dogs (similar to a margarita). I didn't feel great the next morning, but I had a blast at the wedding.
5. Yummy moment - our friend Jill made all of the bonbons for her very own wedding. They were delicious. When on earth did she have time to do that??

There are so many other great memories that we could share...maybe next month when we celebrate our own anniversary! Until then, congrats to the royal newlyweds!

Glad to see that a fun moment from our wedding made the list! :-)
We caught a little bit of the wedding (the kids and I) as we got ready for school/work. The kids were fascinated - they loved all the soldiers and music and ornate church (which they thought was a castle). I, of course, was in it for the dress, which was beautiful :-).
I DVR'd it, and watched a bunch more of it Friday night after the kids went to bed - though I had to fast forward a lot, because 6 hours is a long time to watch ANYTHING!
