Passover, Easter and Springtime in Durham

Happy Passover! Happy Easter! And, yay, for spring!

Last week, we enjoyed a lot of celebrating. It was Passover and I felt inspired to make as many homemade dishes as possible! Here's the evolution of my charoset -- from apple to yum!

I used a dessert wine from Whole Foods, which made it really delicious!

A large part of my inspiration was the beautiful seder plate that my girlfriends gave me as an Anshe Mitzvah gift. Isn't it gorgeous??

And I tried my hand at matzo ball soup for the first time. It wasn't nearly as delicious as Granny's kneidlach, but I think she would have approved!

Sammy loved every bite!

So did Tony! Oh, and I couldn't find horseradish anywhere, so we (the former residents of Japan) used wasabi. It was SOOOO good with the charoset and matzo!! Happy Passover! 良い過ぎ越しの祭りを! Springtime in Durham is really lovely. Here's Sammy enjoying our porch before the mosquitoes and humidity come out in full force!

I really love these shots. He reminds me so much of my cousin Josh as a child. Smiley AND sneaky!!

We take A LOT of walks in our neighborhood when the weather's nice. Here's Miss Brie--out cold after a relaxing, long walk.

This past weekend, Nonno and Nonna came to visit for Easter, which translated to approximately 32 waking hours of non-stop love and attention for Sammy and Brie. They could not get enough of them.

Here's Brie all dressed up in the Easter dress that Nonna got her! (The flapper head accessory was my idea.)

What does one do when he's all dressed up?? Play with trains!!

I LOVE this shot of Brie. Lots of attitude!

This photo is a re-creation of one we took of Sammy and Ciro when Sammy was 9 months old. Now Brie can attend De Falco University, too! Sibling silliness.

The highlight of Sammy's Easter celebration was--hands down--the egg hunt we did out in our backyard. Gammy found the cutest little basket for Sammy, not to mention the coolest eggs (they look like basketballs, baseballs, soccer balls and footballs)!

Sammy knew exactly what to do!

He even had a cheering section!

Sammy LOVED egg hunting. We seriously had to cut him off!

Another highlight of Sammy's Easter weekend?? "Bunny cookies!" He's obsessed with these "deewishiss" cookies that Maria and Ciro made. Oh, what will we do when they run out??

P.S. Before I forget: We had Brie's 9-month appointment last week and she's doing great! She weighed in at 21 lbs, 12 oz and measured 28.3" long. Yay! Now if she would just get a few teeth, then she'd one step closer to a bunny cookie of her own!

P.P.S. Last weekend we all went to the Duke Gardens for some playing and a photo shoot. Some of our favorites are below. (You should see the outtakes!!)

And here is the card that we put together for relatives near and far who could not celebrate Easter with Sammy and Brie. Happy holidays, everyone!
