A Very De Falco Weekend

Some weekends check all the boxes...and this was one of them!  We got to do so many things that we love, and enjoy a new adventure or two, also!

We started with the Lime Green Ninja Cheetahs' first soccer game of the season...where both kids had a blast on their new team.  Sam and Brie jumped right in (here they are warming up together) and had a great time playing with their teammates, several of whom are quite talented!

After no goals for most of the game, a bunch of our players (Sam is in the middle below) clumped in front of the goal late in the second half...and scored! None of us could see who actually kicked the ball in...and all of the kids thought it was them (including Sammy!), so that was pretty thrilling!

Congrats, Ninja Cheetahs, on your 1-0 victory! Way to start the season off right!

Then--after a snack and costume change--Sam and Brie tried something sorta new: Japanese class! Tony and I have been throwing around this idea for years, but the ideal opportunity never seemed to present itself. We looked into Berlitz twice, but neither the cost nor the time commitment suited us. Then we were at the Montgomery Farmer's Market recently and got reacquainted with the owner of Hanamiya in downtown Montgomery. She's from Japan and we learned that she does Japanese tutoring!

So this morning, both kids got to sit down with Teruko-san and practice some Japanese phrases, write some Hiragana letters, and drink green tea with marshmallows! It was a very positive experience for both kids and they're already looking forward to their next lesson.

Then today, we went to Coney Island!! Sam and Brie are "big kids" now, so they most looked forward to the fast rides and roller coaster.

 

 

 

Sebastian got a big kick out of watching his big sibs and really enjoyed the lunch. Everyone had a good time!

We ended the weekend with lots of time in the backyard--the weather was perfect--and dinner out on the deck. The kids also snuggled on the sofa for a little TV watching. 

Soccer? Japanese? An amusement park? Fun in the backyard? Yep, I'd say those things make for a weekend that is very us. Here's to a wonderful week ahead and a Happy Jewish New Year...may it be full of sweetness!

P.S.  What was NOT part of our ideal weekend, you ask?? How about UVa losing to Notre Dame (when we should have won!), the Redskins losing to the Dolphins, and the Ravens losing to the Broncos. Ugh. At least the Bengals won!!
