A Restful Weekend and Kicking Off Soccer Season

It's hard to beat a quiet and restful Labor Day weekend. We spent it playing...
Making jewelry...
Watching cartoons...
and making (butternut squash) soup! Yum!
On Saturday morning, we headed to Dick's for new soccer cleats for Sammy...
and Brie! (This is exactly how I felt whenever I got new cleats. Wish I had a pic of me with my first pair!)
Then we watched UVa lose to UCLA in our football season opener. NOT shocking!
Adding to the weekend's relaxation was a fantastic pool party at our neighbors' home. Here are the gals...
Sam on a big manta ray...
and Sebastian loving the cool water!
Another treat was meeting our friends' new twins Emma and Jacob! They're only three weeks old! Here is Sebastian meeting Emma. You could tell that he knew right away that little babies are very special.

In anticipation of the fall soccer season kicking off, the kids decorated their own soccer balls...
And tried on all their new gear! Watch out other team...you may have met your match!
Tonight was the team's first practice. When I signed up Sammy and Brie for the same team, I had some reservations, but the practice went well!
And...since the coaches let the 5- and 6-year-olds choose their team name, we're the Lime Green Ninja Cheetahs this season. Inspiring fear in the hearts of their opposition, I'm sure! Let's go, Ninja Cheetahs!

P.S. While Tony and I were cleaning the garage on Sunday, I found this cassette tape. Couldn't help but smile, even if I can't play it!!
