Samuel has completely embraced being an intermediate school student--waking up early without needing an alarm most days!--packing up, eating breakfast, etc. before his younger siblings even wake up. He has many friends from elementary school and has already made many new ones. A few highlights of his year so far include beating the principal at chess during recess and creating some beautiful sounds from his new instrument the clarinet! (Here's a video. Can you tell recording him was my idea?)
I had to share this little questionnaire that Sam completed during the first week of school. It's the third or fourth (possibly fifth??) year in a row that he has put down sushi as his favorite food and New Kids' "Remix" as his favorite song. I know he will change and evolve as he gets older, but I really respect that he's consistent and true to himself. It's really fascinating to watch your kids grow up and become big people!!
Brie loves being a big person on campus...the oldest grade at her school this year. She has a nice group of friends and teachers she loves. She's definitely hit the ground running this year. In soccer, too! Here she is with friend and teammate Allie. Go, Purple Dragons!
Here's our gang all doing "homework" together. Don't you love watching diligence at its best??
And then there's Sebastian the kindergartner! He had a few days toward the beginning of the school year when boarding the bus was an issue. The kids are supposed to sit by grade and he wasn't sure who he should sit with or where. Luckily, that was ironed out and he loves going to school. It sounds like he adores his class, teacher and friends.
He also loves schoolwork and art, which are really fun to watch. Reminds us so much of Brie at this age.
Speaking of which, Maple Dale recently celebrated Grand Friends Day, so I got to escort some of our older neighbors to visit Sebastian and Brie at school. It was great fun!
Mr. Jimmy and Ms. Janet's visit made Sebastian's day!!
He loved showing them around his classroom, sharing favorite books and asking them questions about when they were in elementary school.
Ms. Shirley visited Brie!
She received some art that Brie made especially for her...
Some of which made us really laugh!!
And speaking of being scholarly, here's our four-eyed crew. Samuel got new glasses recently and Brie just got her first pair. And Sebastian is our pint-size Elton John impersonator.
Hope everyone has had a good start to school! 👓
P.S. Speaking of gettin' schooled, I went to see Toby Keith with Courtney and Melissa back in August. We had a blast!!
He played EVERY good song, including "Should've Been a Cowboy." Hearing that live definitely checked a bucket list box for me!
"Red Solo Cup," anyone?? Everyone!!
