Beach Week 2016

We just put the icing on our summer cupcake with a week in Virginia Beach! It was road trip time!

With a stop (in WV) to get the wiggles out (and look for Pokemon characters!) here...

and a nap there...

and another nap there...

we arrived right on time for steamed clams and shrimp with Gammy and Granddaddy Rob!!

Then we hit the beach first thing the next morning...

With the cousins! So we splashed in the waves and buried Uncle Ben...

And Sammy!

Our week was full of snuggles!

 

And fun and games...

 

And more cousin bonding...

Brie joined Granddaddy Rob as his assistant in the office for a few hours...

She had a blast! Can you tell his coworkers were eager to hear Brie's plans for the new budget?? ;-)

While Gammy and Auntie B were at the Virginia Beach Dixie Chicks concert (woohoo!)...

Tony and I met the cousins out for a delicious meal and some tasty drinks. We had a great time...lots of laughs!

Other memorable fun? Well, Brie got her first pair of shoes with laces...and learned how to tie them (she was very proud)!

And Brie and Gammy collaborated on a sewing project: a wallet for Brie...

We went back to the beach almost every day since the weather was gorgeous!

We also ate countless good meals, watched A LOT of the Rio Olympics and went for long walks in the neighborhood and by the oceanfront each evening. Ah... Nothing beats beach week!

We hated to leave Virginia Beach, but were able to break up the long drive home by stopping in Charlottesville to visit good friends. The parents enjoyed catching up and the kids had a blast playing with Tommy and Jack!

And here's the last shot I took of our slap-happy crowd after nearly 12 hours of travel time. Animal ears and orange creamsicle milkshakes, anyone?? If it means a week at the beach, then sure! We can't wait for the next beach week!!
