Birthday Boys and Weekends in DC!

Last month, Tony's dad turned 75! Tony's mom told him they would be celebrating with dinner at David and Cheryl's house...but little did he know that it was a surprise party! Look at all the family who traveled from near and far to Arlington to celebrate him (including Tony and Diane)! He was truly surprised.
Ciro received many special gifts that night, including a picture of all six grandchildren enjoying pasta at his house. Happy Birthday, Nonno...we love you!
The next day, everyone met at Uncle Ralph's for a pizza party to celebrate Candice's 40th...even more fun!
And then over the weekend, I flew to DC to meet my parents and Beth for my dad's 65th birthday!
Can you guess where we were? We walked around the Washington Monument...
The World War II Memorial...

AND...the White House!

Ready to give a press conference! ;-)

Back at our hotel, we presented our "big surprise" to the birthday boy! Weeks earlier, Beth reached out to family and close friends of our dad to see if they would kindly send birthday a card (and share a good memory, if they like!)...so we could surprise him with a big stack of birthday cards to read!
They were wonderful (and funny and silly)...and tons of fun to go through!
Lots of fun memories and stories!
Then we headed to Liberty Tavern for a delicious dinner...and to toast our dad on his big day!
Two wonderful celebrations for two very special people in our lives. Happy Birthday, Dads!

P.S. My dad's brother Bill sent him a package of hilarious gag gifts that cracked us up...including a cone for hearing loss and a hardhat for when he falls "over the hill." Ha!
P.P.S. We could not have been more lucky with the timing of our two celebration weekends. Smack between Tony's trip and mine was this...Snowmageddon!! Here's Beth outside her home! Needless to say, we would have had to cancel our trips, if the weather had been like this. Phew!
