Pomp and Circumstance

How did we spend MLK Day? After a few hours of indoor playground time this morning, we watched some of President Obama's second inauguration, and it was hard not to feel a strong sense of patriotism and pride (and hope?!) for the next four years.

 

Sammy even brought out his kazoo (and drums!) for the special occasion!

Ironically, we got a dusting of snow today...just like four years ago! Here are Baby Sam (age 1 month, 2 days) and me in Durham on January 20, 2009. Four years have gone very quickly!

"Was that Sammy's first and only brush with the current administration?" you ask. It was, in fact, not! In June 2009, we visited the Newseum in Washington, D.C., where we looked at photos and write-ups on how historic President Obama's presidency and inauguration were.

Then in September, we spotted the President and First Lady while at Pentagon City Mall. Too bad Baby Sam slept through both of those outings!

And do you think Michelle is kinda checking out Tony?? Hmmm...

Here's to four great years, America! We did our part in Ohio on November 6th, so make us proud, Barack and Joe! And take it all in, Sammy and Brie...this is, once again, an historic time!!
