Lights, Turkey, Legos!

I'm not sure how it's already December 1, but you better believe I'm going to share our Thanksgiving adventures from last week (as well as all we're thankful for) before we get any closer to the winter holidays!

The kids wrapped up school on Tuesday, and later that day, Gammy, Granddaddy Rob, Auntie B and Panda all arrived for four full days of fun! We dove right into quality time and playing...especially Sebastian who was delighted to have extra adults (and a furry friend) to give him lots of attention.

On Wednesday evening, we hit the zoo for our annual trip to see the lights. We were greeted by this ENORMOUS owl!
Ready for some beautiful illumination!
Lights!
On Thursday, we woke up the delicious smell of turkey roasting (Thank you, Gammy!) and knocked out the remaining dishes, including mashed potatoes, green beans, rolls and chocolate-chip pecan pie. Mmmm...
The entire meal was delicious and we savored the company, too. Family, friends, our health, shelter and good schools were high on everyone's "Things I'm thankful for" list.
Sebastian dug into the sweet potatoes!
Thankful for good eats and girl time!
On Friday, we laid low (no Black Friday shopping for us). The weather on both Thanksgiving and the day after was (unseasonably) lovely...60's and sunny...so we took several long walks...
And played in the backyard.
Panda surprised all of us with friskiness and enthusiasm for the frisbee!
She even wanted Sebastian to throw it for her!
After all that, we enjoyed a little screen time...
And lounged in bed. :-)
We also celebrated Gammy's birthday...something we all look forward to each Thanksgiving. Sebastian loved her glittery card!
And we kept up our annual tradition for celebrating one night of Hanukkah early. This is Beth's reaction when I "re-gifted" a set of "Beverly Hills, 90210" bio books to her that I'm pretty sure one of us gave to the other over 20 years ago. #fungaragefinds
Brie got a Lego set...
And Sammy got a really cool circuitry toy that did all kinds of cool stuff!
On Saturday, we went to Museum Center and saw the "The Art of the Brick" Lego art exhibit. It was amazing!! Here's the Mona Lisa...made out of Legos! (The neat part about this exhibit is that you could take all the flash photos you want because you can't hurt the Legos!)
Lego Hokusai, anyone??
Sammy and Brie immediately recognized "American Gothic" since they saw the real deal earlier this year.
The Venus De Milo...in Legos!
The artist even built a flying pig...just for Cincinnati (a.k.a. Porkopolis)!
At the end of the exhibit, there was a huge room where the kids could build with Legos and Duplos. Pretty fun!
We also watched an IMAX film about space and played our hearts out in the kids' section of the museum. Here are Sebastian and Gammy at the top of the castle.
Brie serving Daddy and Granddaddy at her very own diner...
And Sammy shoveling rocks at his construction site. Play is hard work!
We ended a wonderful couple of days with a dinner out at one of our favorite pizza restaurants.
This is Sam's face when his root beer float came with not a scoop of vanilla ice cream, but a vanilla popsicle to plunge into his glass of root beer. Awesome!
Happy Thanksgiving and Happy Birthday, Gammy!! And thank you, Granddaddy Rob, Auntie B and Panda for a fabulous visit!!
P.S. Brie's class celebrated Thanksgiving with a big feast last week! She got all dressed up and proudly announced that her Native American name is "Red Robin." I thought, "Like the restaurant?" but it turns out she meant "Robin Red."
Let's eat!!
