Ready, Set...School!

Last week, the kids toured the elementary school with other new students (including their friend and neighbor Sarp)...

Brie found her locker...with an owl on it!!

And even made a new friend or two at the playground meet-and-greet!

Then last night, we met the kids' new teachers, found their desks and turned in the (BAGS and BAGS of) supplies that were required.

And this morning was the first day of school! All three kids were very excited! Can you tell it was a beautiful day??

Time for school, neighbors!

The bus was only a few minutes late...but it was hard to wait since the kids AND parents were anxious!

Here it comes!

Sam and Brie sprinted onto the bus. Each spotted a friend to sit with. :-)

Off to school!

The kids got home really late today...5 p.m.!  They're supposed to return around 4:15, but there was a big delay with the buses (apparently, this is pretty typical of the first week) and there were reports that they forgot a child and went back. Yikes!

The good news was that Sam and Brie bounded off the bus with a lot of energy...both had a wonderful first day. Sam was delighted to recognize an old friend from Rockwern at the new school. Brie spouted, "Mom, it was a great school! I had a great, great day!" So glad Day 1 was a success with lots of smiles. (Better than my own tears on the first day of kindergarten when I knocked over a large and very loud abacus!) Here's to a fantastic year!!

P.S. It's hard to believe that we have a first grader, a kindergartner and 14-month-old! How wonderful to watch and appreciate each age and phase!
