Farewell to Summer

Well, it's officially October, and we're already making the most of the amazing fall weather we've been having...lots of outdoor time, keeping the windows open in the house, and only needing a sweater for a few hours each morning.  Too bad this can't last forever!  (Of course, our summer weather was fantastic, too...we only broke 90 degrees a handful of times. Can't complain about that!)  Now that autumn is here, it feels right to look back and reflect on what a wonderful summer we had.  It will be a hard one to beat, so in order to adequately tip our hat to the season, here is a list of our Top Five Wonderful Things from Summer 2014:

1.  Sebastian

He joined our family on June 19 (technically, it was still spring, but who's checking?!) and we've been...
eating
him
up
ever
since!

2.  Virginia Beach

Our vacation there in August was just what we needed...a little break from our Cincinnati routine, some quality time with both of our families, and an opportunity to introduce sweet Sebastian to his Virginia cousins.  It was perfect.
3.  Coney Island

Every time we go here, we have more fun.  The big kids will soon age (or grow) out of the small rides, but right about that time is when Sebastian will be big enough, and I'm sure they'll be eager to show him how it's done.
4.  The "Captain Underpants" Series

We happened upon this book series thanks to a neighbor we ran into at the library, and the rest is history.  Sammy is obsessed with the clever, humorous and often raunchy storylines that come with these books.  They are perfect for a 5-year-old, and it's exciting to us that this little collection of books makes him want to read or be read to All THE TIME!
5.  Pizza

Tony took the time to make us homemade pizza several times this summer...and we loved every, single bite!!
Brie even captured this special family tradition with a beautiful drawing of the four of us (complete with big smiles) eagerly awaiting a pizza that Daddy is tossing. Too cute!
Here's to Summer 2014!  Can't beat all the great memories!
