95

Tony's grandfather (a.k.a. Nonno Giovanni to us and Bisnonno to the great-grandkids) turned 95 last week.  Can you imagine?  95!!

He leads a very healthy lifestyle complete with walking everywhere (he does not own a car) and eating a textbook Mediterranean diet. He gets plenty of rest, enjoys wine and beer in moderation (he's Italian, after all!) and he has beautiful views of the Bay of Naples from his apartment in his quaint, little Italian town. That way of life would nudge each of us one step closer to 95, wouldn't it?

In honor of Bisnonno's birthday, I thought I'd share some photos from our visits to Italy over the past few years. Many good memories!
Whenever we visit, Tony and his grandpa play Italian cards. Tony often wins, but not always...Bisnonno is still super sharp! Here's a pic from our June 2006 visit.

In 2009, we took 9-month-old Sammy to Italy to meet his only living great-grandfather...and for Bisnonno to meet his first great-grandchild! They hit it off beautifully.

Four generations!

And then this past May, the four of us made the trip, so Bisnonno could see how much Sammy had grown (and how silly he'd gotten) and to meet Brie--who is named for his wife Gabriella. The kids loved spending time with him despite the language barrier.

At almost 95, Bisnonno looked really good!

Here are the four generations again. Such a handsome family!!

In this season of giving thanks, we're so thankful for Bisnonno and we send him all our love! Buon compleanno!!
