Welcome, Gabriella Eve De Falco!

A big announcement from the De Falco Household in Durham, NC:

At 6:35 a.m. yesterday, we welcomed our daughter Gabriella Eve into the world. She decided to make an appearance one day before her due date...and we were very ready to meet her!

She weighed in at 7 lbs, 10.5 oz (over 7 oz more than her big brother!) and was 20" long.

Welcome to the world!

Gabriella is named after her great grandmother Gabriella from Italy. She was a wonderful, special person whom we all loved very much.

Our little Gabriella's nickname is "Brie," just like the French cheese. Big Brother Sammy should be able to pick it up in no time, though for now, he calls her, "Baby!"

Like many second children (thank goodness for the warning from our doctor), Brie's labor was very quick...about 3 1/2 hours total! We arrived at Durham Regional Hospital at 4:45 a.m. and Brie was born at 6:35 a.m.! The doctor was still pulling on his scrubs as Brie started to make an appearance!

Here's a very proud auntie who helped deliver Brie!

And Gammy! They both yelled, "It's a girl!"

In no time at all, everyone was taking turns holding Brie:

On the day Brie arrived, it was hot, but gorgeous outside! Here's the view from our hospital room. Can you see Durham County Stadium?

Meanwhile, back at the ranch...

Big Brother Sammy got a lot of attention from and time with all four grandparents!
He loved his balloon that looked like Boots from "Dora the Explorer"!!

Here's Baby Brie on Day 2...

We think Brie reminds us quite a bit of Sammy when he was born, but with a rounder face and an olive complexion like her daddy. And, if we can catch her smiling, we hope to post a pic soon of our little girl's dimple on her right cheek. ;-)

Special thanks to everyone for all of your support and love over the past nine months. Brie was welcomed into the world with an abundance of adoration, hugs and kisses. We feel very blessed.

P.S. So everyone who voted for "girl" in our survey, you ten readers were correct! (You nine readers who voted "boy"...you were close!)

P.P.S. Here's a fun video of Sammy reading/goofing off with Nonno Ciro!
