Bring Back the Time

Could any month ever top May? I think not. It really is my MOST FAVORITEST month!! And even with the countless reasons I have to love it, May 2022 has truly exceeded my high expectations. Every year, the month just gets better and better.

For starters, this month has been a wonderful trip down memory lane, which partially explains the title of my post. We enjoyed event after activity after event full of nostalgia and fun! ("Bring Back the Time" was also the title of a new song that we're playing on repeat in our house. You'll see why below!)

At the beginning of the month, Beth flew in for a much-anticipated week of fun! We had hoped to see Carol Burnett in 2021, but her two Cincy shows were both postponed to this year. She's 89, so you better believe we weren't going to miss it!
Here we are SO excited to see Miss Hannigan live!!

For 90 minutes, Carol took questions from the audience and showed clips from her shows. She was funny, sincere, humble and HILARIOUS. She also sang!! It was absolutely wonderful.
Saying "Good night" after an evening of love and joy!
On my big day, Beth and I went for a jog. Essentially, we ran 3 miles together and then she ran 7 more. Perfect for both of us!
Then we baked this delicious caramel cake!!
And the kids surreptitiously made cards and gifts for me. πŸ˜‰
For my birthday dinner, we went to Blue Ash Chili. Brie and I are pescatarians this month, but it was still yummy.
Beth and I ordered a white wine, but received this delightful pink (likely RosΓ©) drink instead. Lucky us!
My homemade card and treats!
And my SCRUMPTIOUS cake!!
For anyone wondering where Samuel is in these pics, my birthday weekend was the same as the Rockdale junior high youth group retreat. They stayed at a hotel downtown, attended a comic book conference AND went to the Reds Game (complete with ice cream)! So glad they had a fun time!!
Guess who really missed Samuel while he was gone?
Then the next morning was Mother's Day! I could get used to this "all about me all weekend" kind of thing! Tony made his world-class cinnamon rolls! 😁
Sebastian and Auntie B did a little yoga!
And then we went to Cooper's Hawk for dinner. We had such a YUMMY meal and I discovered that I LOVE Hendricks martinis. Woohoo!
Guess who's taller than Auntie B (in heels) now??
And...do you recall what also seems to fall in May and makes my month the very best?! New Kids on the Block concerts!! They tour every two years, but last year was a bust. Waiting an extra year was completely unfair!

They announced the tour back in the fall: New Kids on the Block, Salt n Pepa, En Vogue AND Rick Astley! So many favorite bands AND bringing Rick Astley out of retirement in the U.K?! And they picked Cincy to kick off their tour (AGAIN)!! We knew we couldn't miss it!!

I sent out an email seeing who wanted to join our crew. We got a group of nine...woohoo! And we agreed it would be extra fun to dress up all 80's: yeah!!

When the day finally came, I knew exactly how I wanted my hair. Ha!
Watch out, fans, everywhere!! (Brie special-ordered her shirt to go with the new song that all of the bands released together!)
My good friend and former coworker Jean drove all the way from Durham, NC, to attend the concert with us. She's a VERY big New Kids fan and has been to a dozen or more shows, but never to opening night of a tour. It only made sense that she join us. It was great to see her after ten years!!
Our group at Moerlein...
And before the show!!
Ready to rock!!
At our favorite venue!
At our seats with 80's big hair!
The Fab Five did not disappoint!

En Vogue!!
Salt n Pepa!!

We got Rick Rolled!

We sang and smiled and danced and sang some more.
And I'll be darned, but Jonathan Knight waved at me AGAIN. I really think we share an invisible bond over home reno and it doesn't go unnoticed during NKOTB concerts. πŸ˜‰
The bands really did "bring back the time." And nothing beats being transported back to 1989! Can't wait for the next show!!

Then...Tony and I celebrated our 20th wedding anniversary. So hard to believe!!

Doesn't everyone love a "before"...
And an "after"??
In honor of our wedding cake, I picked up a cheesecake to enjoy that night. The kids had fun cutting it like the wedding couple!
Then it was Tony's birthday! It was an especially celebratory and cake-filled week.
What else has made May so special?? We've had field trips (for some second graders and their teachers, it was their first!!)...
Band concerts...

The sixth grade performed the "Jurassic Park" theme song and Mr. Graulty cracked up the kids by conducting in a dinosaur costume. Ha!
Would you believe that we got Rick Rolled TWICE in one month?! The kids were so excited to surprise the parents!!
Paige, Brie and Ziva.
The 7th graders wowed us, too!
Team pics...
Katie's Bat Mitzvah at Plum Street Temple!
And by the Ohio River like Samuel's!
Tony's coworker's wedding!
γ”η΅ε©šγŠγ‚γ§γ¨γ†γ”γ–γ„γΎγ™!
Brunch in Columbus with my former student Iris who's now an Ohio State student!
Mini Society! Sebastian sold homemade bookmarks called "Sebasmarks"!!
And one of his classmates made these wonderful hand puppets. Sebastian found one that looks just like Blossom!
Bestie birthday parties!
As well as dinner out with friends!
Meanwhile, on the other side of the earth, Mom and Dad were having an amazing time in South Africa...wildlife and safaris included. Their photos were mind-blowing!!

Now I want to bring back THIS time. May, you never cease to impress and you've done it again!! πŸ‘

P.S. Remember this classic during the presidential election a few years back? I know for certain now that it cannot be topped.
