Soccer Sam!

Once upon a time, Sammy was a little guy who loved balls. Soccer balls. Basketball balls. Tennis balls. If it was round, he LOVED it.
He even played a little soccer around the house in Durham...before being distracted by the slide we had in the living room (not sure what we were thinking!).
Fast-forward four years: Sammy had his very first soccer practice! His coach is wonderful with the kids and Sammy was VERY excited to wear shin guards and cleats...can you tell??
This morning was Sammy's first game and the Purple Tigers did really well! Sammy started off in goal and made two saves!

Then he played in the field and enjoyed running after the ball...along with EVERY OTHER child on the field. They are only five and six years old, after all!

The league does not keep score, but both teams scored a few goals...exciting for the players and parents! And the kids got to practice dribbling, shooting and throw-ins. Tony and I are very interested to see how the rest of the season unfolds. Will the Purple Tigers learn to pass? Will they remember not to use their hands? Will the after-game Capri Suns always be more popular than the actual game of soccer? We'll keep you posted!!
