Tony and I just returned from celebrating our 10th wedding anniversary with a long weekend in Ft. Myers Beach, FL...and it was WONDERFUL! Sammy and Brie stayed with Gammy and Granddaddy Rob, which meant that we had lots of time to read, go to the beach, eat yummy meals, and SLEEP!
Here's a run-down of the highlights of our relaxing weekend away. They are below (in no particular order)...I just love making lists!
1. Read lots of books and magazines (on the beach, if possible!).
2. Be lazy (e.g. watch movies/TV until late each night and then sleep in. Then take an afternoon nap, too!).
3. Perform a mitzvah (a.k.a. a good deed). Not usually on your anniversary celebration to-do list? It should be! We happened to find someone's wallet outside of the condo complex where we were staying, so made a great effort to get it back to him. Wouldn't it be awful to lose your wallet while on vacation Memorial Day weekend?? He did get it back: yay!
4. Enjoy the ocean (and the beach)!
5. Take in some good sunsets.
6. Eat several yummy meals, especially ones with great seafood and champagne!
7. Have some good laughs.
8. Do something educational! We visited the the winter homes of Thomas Edison and Henry Ford in Ft. Myers...so interesting! Here's Tony with the not-so-life-size statue of Mr. Edison:
9. Take in a movie. In our case, enjoy a private screening!! For whatever reason, we were THE ONLY people in the entire (50-person) theater!! We chose a 3 p.m. Saturday matinee, so we could beat the heat...but, apparently, Floridians WANT that golden crisp look that only full days at the beach will achieve. As for What to Expect When Expecting: we gave it a B-. It was nice to be able to laugh as loud as we liked in the theater, though!
10. Check in on the kids occasionally AND get lots of photo and video updates from the grandparents. Our favorites are below:
And the pièce de résistance: Brie dancing to the Jackson Five at my dad's coworker's Memorial Day party. Little did we know that she's got some solid James Brown moves...and a bow that says, "Ta da! I have given this my all!" (And I should add that my dad was standing in the pool right near Brie--just in case!) It's safe to say that the kids did NOT miss us!!
Happy 10th to us!!

Happy Anniversary! I remember your wedding so well...and ZiCi poking at me, saying "Are you getting any ideas?" (/repeatedly). And yay for doing your good deed!
