Good Eats and Summer Holidays

Hi there! Happy July, everyone! I'm nearly 7 months old now and growing like a weed! And it's time for me to update you on my very first summer. It's been great so far...

Relaxing...

Playing with mom...

Spending time with Great-Grandma Lonia...

Eating delicious food...

Reading with Gammy...

Going for walks in my stroller...

And I discovered my toes!

Silly me!

Eating is serious business, so while I'm savoring bites of banana, avocado, carrot, sweet potato and yellow squash...

Mom and Dad have been busy trying out Durham's many taquerias! They were inspired by a Tacomentary--written, directed and produced by several Duke Law students--about Durham's many taco stands. Can't wait till I can have a big bite of a fresh, authentic soft taco! (Here's me at Taqueria la Vaquita!)

We went to Virginia Beach for the 4th of July! I got in some quality time with family! Here's me reading the newspaper with Uncle Bill. Nonno Ciro will be so excited to see that I LOVE the newspaper!

Here's everyone gathered around my first bite of carrot! What can I say? Little babies, big adventures!

And me showing Great-Grandma Janis my patriotic spirit in honor of Independence Day; she loved my red, white and blue shirt!

Mom, Dad, Auntie B and Tom played Jungle Golf one day. It was close, but I hear that Dad squeaked out a win in a putt-off. Go, Daddy!

Did I mention that I went to the beach for the first time?! It was great, but the waves surprised me!

The sand felt nice!

July 7th was Tanabata! It's a Japanese holiday when people write their wishes on pieces of paper and tie them to a tree, in hopes that they come true. Mine read, "大きくなりたい。。。" ("Ookiku naritai..."), meaning "I want to grow big..." Believe it or not, I felt bigger the very next day!

I wore a yukata (summer kimono) from Mom's friend Karen...SUCH a super gift!!

This past weekend, Nonno and Nonna came to visit from Northern Virginia. They introduced me to sweet potato: yummers!

And I got a necklace with a pendant of Saint Silverio, the patron saint of Ponza (the island where Dad's family is from in Italy), from Great-Grandpa Giovanni. Here's me modeling it.

P.S. Who knew that I would love yellow squash this much?!

P.P.S. My ever-expanding wardrobe contains this PRECIOUS little number from Norway!!
